FAQ
Supported Align Microphones
Supported microphones for Align in-app room measurements
The Align feature in the Dutch & Dutch app enables accurate in-app room measurements. To guarantee reliable and repeatable results, Align supports only measurement microphones that are individually calibrated and of known, consistently high quality. At this time, these are:
- miniDSP UMIK-1
- miniDSP UMIK-2
- Dutch & Dutch Reference Microphone
Why only these microphones?
Accurate room measurements depend on calibration files that describe the exact frequency response of a microphone.
For the UMIK-1 and the Dutch & Dutch Reference Mic, these calibration files are available and verified.
Other USB microphones, as well as the built-in microphone of your phone, do not have known or consistent calibration data. Without this information, measurement accuracy cannot be guaranteed, which directly affects the quality of Align results. For this reason, these microphones are not supported.
Connection requirements
Both supported microphones require a USB-C connection.
- On USB-C iPhones and Android phone, the microphones can be connected directly.
- On older iPhones with Lightning, an adapter is required.
Apple’s official Lightning to USB adapter can be found here:

Using supported microphones and proper calibration ensures Align delivers the precision needed for correct room optimization.
