Issue: often unwanted playback pausing when streaming music
Symptoms: You are playing music with your 8c’s using Spotify or Roon. There are hick-ups in the music playing. The playback often pauses or stops without you commanding either pause or stop.
Possible cause: Synchronization of the audio signal is hindered due to a router to which the 8c's are connected; causing the audio stream to be stopped.
Explanation: When using a streaming service, the audio signal is sent to the speakers from an internet connection (in contrast to feeding audio signal to the speakers through the analog/digital input at the XLR input connector). The signal comes through some network device - a switch or router - and goes to the 8c’s through the ethernet cable which is attached into the 8c’s ethernet connector. In order to play music well, the signals arriving at the left and right speakers should be synchronized (i.e. they should arrive at the same time). When the speakers are connected to a router, this sometimes causes problems. A router can mess with synchronization between the speakers, causing the audio stream to be stopped.
Solution suggestion: Using a switch instead of the router might solve the problem. If you have a switch available, please try it. If you don't yet have a switch and you will buy one, we recommend this product: NetGear GS105v5 — 5 Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch. This particular product is so "bare bone" in its functionality that it practically always works with the Dutch & Dutch speakers.
